Well I’ve had a busy and productive couple of days.

In the endless wait for my VISA instead of sitting around eating and getting fat (I’ve also been doing this) I decided I’d like to get some portfolio work done as well as trying out some new ideas/set-ups.

My two main ideas were a ‘Cities’ project, more on this to come; and also I really wanted to do some portraits with a more fashion, beauty feel. With me not currently having access to any studio lighting I had to make do with an old SB-600, a shoot-through umbrella and a tripod to mount it all on.

This was the first time i’ve really used an off camera flash like this with a modifier. I had a huge amount of fun and with the help of a few reflectors and a steep learning curve I think I got some great results.

I also put into practice some new post-production that I wouldn’t normally do but it seemed to fit with the style and look I was going for.

Katie was great and made everything really easy for me (she just looked great).

I’d like to do some more portrait shoots before I leave and more to come on the other project shortly.
